LINEUP OF DAY  

This tour is specially designed for families! The day begins with a drive through vall temperature area with view of the magnificent landscape traveling on a mountain road with a overview of Lake Þingvallavatn and the Nesjavellir geothermal power plant in the mountains.

We’ll drive towards the national park towards our next destination Alþingi, the oldest parliament in the world, which was established in 930 AD and a UNESCO World Heritige Site. At Thingvellir we have a presentation of the historical significance of the area and then we will take a walk between the Eurasian and North-American tectonic plates.

We continue the tour through the national park towards the Laugarvatn hot lake and from there we continue to the geyser area. At the famous hot springs we will take a walk through this high temperature area and one of them, called Strokkur, which erupts every few minutes, is a perfect Kodak moment of Iceland.

Our next stop is Gullfoss, or the Golden waterfalls- one of Iceland’s most spectacular waterfalls. Our Next stop is Friðheimar Tomatoe farm were we will visit.In the town of Fluðir we will visit a local´s favorite gem a Zoo named Slakki were we will have close encounter with the local animals.We continue to the south coast and take a short stop at an old explosive crater called Kerið (the Tub) and then we drive towards Reykjavík city, bypassing a few small fishing villages overviewing the coastline, which has truly spectacular scenery, a mixture of black desert and the raw Atlantic ocean.

SIGHTS VISITED 

Reykjanes Geo Volcanic Park – Grindavík Fishing Village – Krísuvík Sea Cliffs – Seltún Hot Springs – Reykjanes lighthouse – Bridge Between continents. Blue Lagoon

The lunar landscape at Reykjanes, with all its volcanoes and different lava formations, gives you a good idea why Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin came to Iceland to practice their moonwalk.

We start by going through the town of Hafnarfjordur and see how Icelanders still dry fish in the lava field just outside of the capital area. A few minutes later we are away from civilization in lunar like landscape which is vast, barren and deserted with many volcanoes and endless lava. We are in fact driving right where the tectonic plates meet, the Eurasia plate and the North-American plate. This is the reason why the Reykjanes Peninsula is so volcanic.

We make our way along the rough tracks to Lake Kleifarvatn, explore a large hot spring area and take a look at the Atlantic ocean from the sea cliffs at Krýsuvík. We also visit the famous lighthouse over viewing a small volcanic Island of Eldey.Later in the afternoon we relax in the Blue Lagoon** before heading back to Reykjavik

SIGHTS VISITED 

Volcano called Hengill – Seljalandsfoss – Gljúfrábúi – Secret location  – Skógafoss – Sólheimajökull glacier – Cape of Dyrhólaey

LINEUP OF DAY  

We start the day by traveling to the top of a volcano called Hengill. From this location most of the citizens of Reykjavik get hot water and electricity from a geothermal power station. All in a very efficient and environmentally friendly fashion. Here we will have a chance to learn how they operate.

On the next stop in our journey we head out to a beautiful waterfall called Seljalandsfoss along with local secret spots. We will have an option of walking behind the waterfall. We then drive towards the valley of the Thors to view the eruption site of Eyjafjallajökull and we will also show you a beautiful cave with a waterfall inside.

After we have enjoyed this location we will head out to the other side of the Glacier of Eyjafjallajökull and meet a farmer that lives under this big volcano of Eyjafjallajökull. At Þorvaldseyri you get to know the true spirit of a local Icelander as when most people think about the devastation from the volcanic eruption he thinks about opportunities and positive angles. Our next stop will be a spectacular 60 meter high waterfall called Skógafoss.

Then our drive will take us to the Sólheimajökull glacier where we can walk to the glacier roots, with proper safety gear that we bring with us. Here we will experience new ice caves, the glacier, and view how global warming is affecting us all. Our last stop of the day is looking at a columnar basalt formation as well as viewing the cape of Dyrhólaey. We then head back to Reykjavik city.
